A quote taken from her Facebook page @Beth Chia Music from someone who interviewed Beth after the Ballingup Small Farm Field Day (April 10th 2023).
“An Ethereal yet edgy voice with a restrained power to set you on your seat’s edge…From the rolling hills and misty valleys of Bailingup, Beth Chia shares songs from the heart. The intrigue in her original songs comes from an indefinable mixture of exotic roots rhythms, moody folk lyricism and an ever present dance between fragility and power. Singing was always a secret passion for Beth. Like many people she was not happy with the sound of her own voice. Originally from the southwest, Beth travelled around Australia for years, spending several years in Melbourne before returning to Balingup to give birth to her daughter. Motherhood was a catalyst that encouraged Beth to embrace her unique sound. Pushing her to give voice to the emotions that arise in motherhood. Beth sees her songs as channels of communication to share heart felt experiences with people. She is also a prominent community figure in the Balingup area. Known for her Yoga teachings, Retreats and involvement with the Arts and Cultural hub. Alongside the music, her lifestyle paints a picture of a deeply holistic individual with roots deeply embedded in community, wellness, love and family. Lyrically there’s a mystic poetry running through Beth’s work that rides alongside a grungy and honest directness. It’s a moody folk sound woven through with light. Like sunlight piercing through a tree canopy. Beth’s songs follows the rhythm of her own internal clock, in her songwriting process she uses the dynamics in songs to creates spaces and feelings of being someplace else. There are songs about love, about loss, about being a woman and what it means to create and be creative. Let this unique voice carry you on winds of contemplation.”
Enjoy live music in a relaxed environment whilst sampling award-winning wines.
