Description

Wambenger Trails is the name for the trails in and around Collie in the South West of Western Australia. When complete, Wambenger Trails will be a world class network of mountain bike, walk and paddle trails that showcase the area's natural landscapes and cultural heritage.

Wambenger is an Aboriginal Noongar word and common name for the brush tailed phascogale, a small marsupial found in the south west forests of Western Australia.

Wiilman Bilya Trail
This 19.7km Grade 4 trail includes an overnight camp along the way

The Wiilman Bilya Walk Trail commences near the Hamilton Peninsula on the Coalfields Hwy, meanders along the edge of the dam and through forests of Jarrah, Marri and Yarri (Blackbutt), past Potters Gorge Campsite, all the way to Wellington Dam and the Kiosk at the Dam. It can be walked in both directions.

The trail is a pleasant, but moderately challenging, 19.7km Class 4, full day walk with the option of spending the night at the purpose built Nyingarn (echidna) Campsite, where an undercover area, picnic tables, toilets and tent sites are provided. (Maximum groups size of 25 people) No bookings are required. Follow the brown boot trail markers.

Jabitj Trail
This 12km long (return) Grade 3 trail follows the river

The Jabitj Trail, meaning ‘running water’ in the Noongar language, is a 12 kilometre return trail that follows the Collie River, between Wellington Dam and Honeymoon Pool in Wellington National Park, offering delightful views of the rapids and river pools along the way.

The trail can also be accessed from Potters Gorge via the Sika Trail.

Camping is available at Potters Gorge and Honeymoon Pool.
